II. SITE DESCRIPTION

II.4. SOILS

1. Soil description and types (see Annex 1):
Lithic Leptosols: they are found on hard rock which appears about 10 cm from the surface. There are areas localized in Sierra de la Pinosa (SW) and Cerros de Loma Quemada(E). ; Calcaric Cambisols: Soils with slight profile development. They are combined with leptosols on the SW square of the plot.; Calcaric Regosol: they are the most predominant soil in the area. This type of soil is very erosionable and appears on unconsolidated terrain throughout the North half and SE area of the plot .; Xeric Calcisols: They have a layer with accumulation of calcium carbonate. They are the second most important soils on plot. They are combined with Calcaric Regosols in the NW area of the plot.; Xeric Gypsisols: They have a layer with an accumulation of calcium sulfate (gypsum). They are combined with calcaric regosols in the NE of the plot and a small area is found near the forest house.;
